What Is Missions?
The term “missions” is distinct from “mission.”
Mission (without the “s”) is all the things the church does that points people to the kingdom of God. On the other hand, Missions (with the “s”) is the church’s effort to cross cultural boundaries with the gospel. As the church works to bring the gospel to others, it intentionally crosses cultural borders with the message of Christ. In this way, missions serves as the specific work of the church in the task of reaching people for Christ by crossing cultural boundaries.
What Is a Missionary?
Missionary refers to a cross-cultural worker who is given authority from the church and is sent out by the church to cross linguistic, cultural, or geographic barriers to bring the gospel where it has not been preached.
